A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Rock ‘n Roll

June 3 and 4, 2011

The program offered tuneful selections from both genres. “Love Me Tender;” (Elvis Presley); “Crazy,” (Patsy Cline); “I Walk the Line,” (Johnny Cash) are a few samples from the Country side of the show. “At the Hop,” (Bill Haley and the Comets); “Bye, Bye Love,” (Everly Brothers), and a salute to doo-wop roll the show into the Rock era.

Solos, duets, trios and an octet of men singing “Silhouettes” had the audience tapping toes and clapping in rhythm. Velshera Johnson returned as director and Susan Spataro was at the piano. The Lakeside Singers have been entertaining crowds at Smith Mountain Lake for over 20 years.
