Lake Writers

The Lake Writers is a group of writers from around the Smith Mountain Lake area. The group includes writers of fiction, nonfiction, drama, and poetry. Some are published writers, and some are aspiring to getting their work published.

The Lake Writers meet monthly on the second and fourth Fridays from 10 am to noon. The first meeting is at the Moneta/SML Library near Downtown Moneta; the second meeting is at Trinity Ecumenical Parish off Route 122.

Past Event: Free Branding Workshop

Betsy Ashton (www.betsy-ashton.com), an award winning author and member of the Lake Writers, invites all interested members of SMAC to attend a free branding workshop at the SML/Moneta Library on Friday, October 14 beginning at 10AM. While primarily directed toward writers, the workshop will focus on building a brand to attract buyers to our products. The workshop will touch on using social media to expand our reach, building email lists, using blogs to build awareness, and using other tools to get the word out. Designed for writers and small business owners of all skill levels, this workshop will demystify tools and help you develop an executable plan to build awareness. Remember, you may have the best book or product but if only your friends and family know about it, you won’t sell many copies/items. Please reserve a seat so that we know how many chairs to set up.
