National Finger-style Guitar Champion, Muriel Anderson will be performing in Roanoke, Virginia, upstairs, at the Antique Blue Antique Shop, 12 East Campbell Avenue in Roanoke on Sunday, October 23rd.  Muriel will also be doing a finger-style guitar workshop that evening at 7:00 pm. Seating is limited. Both events are sponsored by the Southwest Virginia Songwriters Association. (SVSA).


In 1989 she became the first woman to win the National Fingerpicking Guitar Championship. She performs concerts and radio shows across the globe.

Muriel Anderson has performed at the Grand Ole Opry, Chicago's Orchestra Hall, and concerts in France, Latvia, Finland, Japan and Canada.  She is an active composer, performer and writer who has had several books published by Hal Leonard and Mel Bay publications.

 

She also founded and hosts the Muriel Anderson's All Star Guitar Night, which donates its proceeds to the Music for Life Alliance.[1] Her music can be heard in Woody Allen's film, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, and her "Heartstrings" album traveled to outer space, accompanying the astronauts on a space shuttle mission.

 

Muriel has taken the music of her mentors, Chet Atkins and Christopher Parkening and combined them with the heart and style that is uniquely her own.  She has been a regular on TNN with her amazing guitar work, which overcomes all stylistic barriers

Recordings and publications


Muriel Anderson has released 15 albums and several DVDs through Truefire, Mel Bay,[4] and Homespun—and guitar books published by Hal LeonardMel Bay Publications, where she on the advisory Board.
