Meet the Judge - Whitney C. Brock

Whitney Brock Pic

Artist’s Biography

Whitney has been immersed in art from an early age, winning her first art competition in the 4th grade and cherishing that little ribbon ever since. Born in 1967 in Maryland, her journey has taken her through New York, Missouri, Hawaii, New Zealand, and ultimately to Virginia, where she settled, married, and raised two sons. These diverse landscapes have deeply influenced her work, particularly her captivating large-scale oil paintings of river rocks and shells.

Recently, Whitney has embraced the challenge of figurative and portrait work, finding new intrigue in capturing the stories and secrets of people through her art.

She attended Virginia Commonwealth University Art School but considers herself largely self-taught.  Her dedication to honing her craft has earned her numerous prestigious awards nationally and features in International Artist magazine twice. Whitney’s paintings are part of many private collections worldwide, and two pieces have been acquired by the Carilion Medical Center’s public collection. Among her many accolades, a standout achievement was winning Best In Show at the Lynchburg Art Festival.

Whitney’s commitment to art extends beyond her own work. She teaches privately, staying connected with art academia and advocating for classical realism in contemporary culture. She also writes a column for the RLA, offering her insights to a broader audience. Her support for the art community is evident through her involvement with organizations such as Oil Painters of America, the International Guild Of Realism, and the Portrait Society Of America to mention just a few.

Currently, Whitney is represented by LinDor Arts, The Little Gallery in Roanoke, VA, and
Stellers Gallery in Jacksonville, FL. She continues to work on steady commissioned projects, contributing her exceptional talent to the art world.
