Gingerbread Creation Decorating Contest

📍 Trinity Ecumenical Parish, 40 Lakemount Drive, Moneta, VA

Gather Your Team! Each team includes:

  • 👧🧒 One child
  • 👩👨 One adult


Registration is FREE!  Email special-events@SMAC-ARTS.com with:

  • Team members’ names, Phone number, Email address


Only 15 teams can participate, so register early! Registration is due before November 15.
We will email you a reminder before the event to confirm your participation.

Before Contest Day

Build your gingerbread creation at home before you arrive. Ideas might include, but are not limited to:

  • 🏠 House
  • 🚜 Barn
  • 🚚 Truck
  • 🐦 Birdhouse
  • 🎅 Any creative gingerbread structure!

You may use a store-bought kit or make your own.
There is no size limit.

Decorating Challenge

Bring your completed structure to the event by 1:00 PM.

You’ll have 60 minutes to decorate it using only edible materials, such as:

  • Frosting or icing (no glue!)
    Candy, Cookies, Sprinkles, Cereal, Marshmallows
    Any other edible decorations

No electrical items (lights, motors, moving parts, flames, candles, etc.) are permitted.

While You Decorate

Guests/Family members are welcome to watch the fun, but teams must work independently—no coaching or outside help during the decorating hour.

Light refreshments will be served while the judges make their final decisions.

By registering, you agree to have photos taken for SMAC publicity, social media, and local news.

Awards 🏆

Five prize baskets will be awarded:

  • 🎨 Most Creatively Decorated Structure
  • 🎄 Best Holiday Spirit
  • 🍭 Best Candy Explosion
  • 😂 Funniest Structure
  • ⭐ Judge’s Choice

 

Every team will also receive a Certificate of Participation.

After the Contest

All gingerbread creations will be displayed at Trinity Ecumenical Parish December 5–11 for everyone to enjoy and photograph.

If you’re attending the SMAC sponsored ticketed event David Wiley Holiday Concert on December 11 in the same church, you may take your creation home after the concert at 9:00 PM.

Otherwise, please pick up your structure on:

🕘 9:00–10:00 AM

Structures not picked up by 10:00 AM become the property of the Smith Mountain Arts Council.
