"Monologues, Scenes and Songs" - Performance Workshop

This is a free workshop that will meet on Mondays 6pm to 8:30pm July 18th through August 22nd. (Tentative performance date August 25th 2022.)

Details below.

Matt Karris

The workshop and performance will be taught and directed by Matt Karris. Matt is a proud member of Actors Equity Association (AEA) and an associate member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers union (SDC).

He is an award-winning Musical Theatre director and professionally taught all levels of Acting and Musical Theatre for over 30 years. Today many of Matt’s students can be seen on Broadway, National Television and Feature Films. From Manhattan, Matt now makes SML his permanent home.

This performance workshop is for those adults 18+ that are interested in exploring the world of acting and the performing arts. Participants will work on scripted scenes and monologues from popular and traditional plays and screenplays to improve and solidify lessons being taught and coached in the workshop. Singers will work separately at first and then join the workshop. A performance for the public will take place at the end of the 7 week session.

This workshop will include technique and improvisation exercises aimed to improve technique while introducing humor and other emotions into the truthful portrayal of a moment.
